Information we may collect
We may collect information you choose to provide directly, such as your name, email address, or message when you contact us, subscribe to a newsletter, submit a form, or otherwise communicate with us.
We may also collect technical and usage information automatically, such as your IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, referring website, pages viewed, links clicked, approximate location based on IP address, and general interaction data related to site performance and usage.
How we use information
We may use information to operate, maintain, improve, and secure the site; to respond to inquiries; to send newsletters or updates you request; to understand audience behavior; to measure content performance; to manage subscriptions; to comply with legal obligations; and to support business, editorial, and administrative functions.
Media submissions and optional submitter profiles
Our media-submission service is under development. The following describes how information will be handled if you use the service when it becomes available.
If you use our media-submission service, we may collect the contact details you provide, such as your name, email address, job title and optional phone number; information about your company, agency or client; and submitted links, media releases, photographs, captions and credits. We use this information to review material for possible editorial coverage, understand its source and attribution, and communicate with you about your submission.
Media releases, photographs, captions, credits and other material submitted for possible publication may be used in our editorial coverage. Private submitter contact details and account information are used to manage the submission and are not treated as material for publication merely because they were provided in the form. Submitting material does not guarantee publication or enroll you in our newsletter.
If you choose an optional saved submitter profile, we may retain the information you select to make future submissions easier. If you request submission-service messages, such as a private link to continue a submission, we use your email address for that purpose. These service messages are separate from newsletter marketing. Creating a profile or requesting a continuation link does not subscribe you to the newsletter.
When the media-submission service becomes available, TERRIFIC! Inc. dba Humanoid Home News may retain submitters’ contact details separately from individual submissions for relevant editorial inquiries, such as interviews, information about robots and clarification for future coverage. You can ask us to stop future editorial outreach or request deletion of your contact information by emailing DanSmigrod@HumanoidHomeNews.com. Retaining an editorial contact does not subscribe that person to newsletters or submission-process announcements.
The planned submission workflow uses a separate, access-restricted Google Sheet for media contacts, private Google Drive storage for attachments, and MailPoet for email subscription preferences. These submission-service connections and access controls have not yet been commissioned.
Cookies and similar technologies
Humanoid Home News may use cookies, pixels, local storage, and similar technologies to remember preferences, improve site functionality, measure traffic, understand engagement, and support advertising or affiliate relationships.
You can usually manage cookies through your browser settings. Disabling cookies may affect some site functionality.
Embedded content
Articles or pages on this site may include embedded content such as videos, images, social posts, or other media. Embedded content from other websites may behave in the same way as if you visited those websites directly.

Email communications
MailPoet is our selected newsletter platform. As of the revised date of this policy, newsletter sending has not started. If you subscribe to a newsletter or other email updates, we may use your email address to send the communications you requested. You may unsubscribe at any time by using the unsubscribe link in the email or by contacting us directly.
When newsletter signup through the media-submission form becomes available, it will be optional and unchecked by default. If you select it, your name and email address will be passed to MailPoet, and new subscribers will be asked to confirm their email signup before receiving newsletters. Subscribers joining this way will receive the same Humanoid Home News newsletter as other subscribers. We will record “Media submission form” internally as the signup source. Existing unsubscribe choices will be respected; submitting media will not silently reactivate a previous subscription.
Newsletter signup is separate from editorial submission and optional profile creation. Choosing not to subscribe does not affect consideration of your submission.
We also plan to offer a separate, optional signup for occasional media-submitter updates, including submission-process changes and the eventual availability of embargo submissions. This choice will be independent of the general HHN newsletter, unchecked by default and subject to email confirmation before updates are sent. You will be able to unsubscribe using a link in each update or by contacting us. MailPoet is the selected email platform for these updates; this integration is not yet operating. Declining these updates will not affect consideration of a submission.
We do not sell your personal information to third parties for their independent marketing use.
Affiliate links and advertising
Some links on Humanoid Home News may be affiliate links. If you click an affiliate link and take a qualifying action, we may receive a commission or other compensation. We may also display advertising, sponsorships, or promotional placements.
These relationships may involve tracking technologies operated by us or by third parties.
How we share information
We may share information with service providers, vendors, contractors, platform partners, hosting providers, legal advisors, or other parties who help us operate the site and business.
We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect our rights, to respond to legal process, to investigate fraud or abuse, or as part of a business transfer such as a merger, acquisition, restructuring, or asset sale.
Data retention
We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law.
The following submission-retention rules are planned and will apply once implemented; automated deletion for this service is not yet operating. Unfinished submissions that were never accepted, including temporary data and files, will be deleted after 30 days of inactivity. Accepted submissions that do not result in publication, including their uploaded files, will be deleted after 90 days without substantive editorial activity.
Deliberately retained media contacts, optional submitter profiles, newsletter preferences and evidence supporting published articles will follow separate, purpose-based retention rules. Media contacts will be retained while reasonably needed for relevant editorial communication, and updated or removed when we learn they are outdated, no longer needed or subject to an applicable deletion request.
Deleting submission content and uploaded files does not necessarily remove justified minimal receipt, duplicate-prevention or editorial-history records. Any personal information kept in those records will be limited to what remains necessary for the specific purpose and retained only while that need continues.
Data security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures to protect information. No method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your choices
You may choose not to provide certain information, though that may limit some site features. You may also unsubscribe from emails, manage cookie preferences through your browser, and contact us to request updates or deletion of information you have provided, subject to legal and operational limitations.
If you use the media-submission service when it becomes available, you may request deletion of your contact or profile information by emailing DanSmigrod@HumanoidHomeNews.com. Authorized HHN administrators will process requests after verifying that the requester is entitled to act for that information. Deletion means removing personal data, not merely hiding or deactivating a contact.
Some information may need to be retained for a specific, justified reason, such as a legal obligation, resolving a dispute or preserving necessary evidence supporting published coverage. We will explain any applicable exception and limit the information retained. Backup copies may remain until they are replaced or expire; we cannot promise immediate erasure from every backup. The planned deletion process will include safeguards against restoring erased contact or profile information into active use from backups.
Unsubscribing stops the relevant email subscription; it is different from requesting deletion of your contact or profile information. A deletion request may still leave narrowly justified records needed to honor your communication choices, which we will explain if applicable. You may later provide your information again and give fresh consent to email subscriptions you choose. Old profiles and permissions will not be automatically restored.
Children’s privacy
Humanoid Home News is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
International users
If you access this site from outside the United States, please be aware that information may be processed and stored in the United States or other jurisdictions where our service providers operate.
Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be posted on this page with a revised effective date. Continued use of the site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
