Living research project

450 real questions. One fictional family.

The Humanoid Home News Question Bank helps families, caregivers, older adults, researchers and robotics companies understand what people are asking before inviting a humanoid robot into the home.

Why we created the Question Bank

Most conversations about humanoid robots begin with what the technology can do. Humanoid Home News began somewhere else: with the questions families need answered before they can decide whether a humanoid belongs in their home.

The result is a public, evolving research resource covering safety, privacy, caregiving, independence, teleoperation, reliability, repair, contracts, household fit, children, pets, guests, data ownership and many other practical concerns.

Meet George, Jane and Judy

The accompanying Humanoid Home News feature uses one fictional family to make the research easier to understand. George and Jane want to remain safely and independently in their home. Their adult daughter, Judy, is trying to determine whether a humanoid could help—and what the family should ask before making that decision.

Editor’s note: The story of Judy and her parents, George and Jane, is fictional. The questions throughout the article come directly from Humanoid Home News editorial research into what people are asking about humanoid robots helping humans in the home.

How we built the Question Bank

Humanoid Home News used AI-assisted editorial analysis to identify and organize questions appearing across consumer discussions, manufacturer information, robotics reporting, academic research, caregiver and aging-in-place research, privacy and cybersecurity reporting, and recurring industry debates.

The research process included:

  • Collecting questions and recurring themes from multiple source types
  • Normalizing similar wording
  • Removing or consolidating duplicates
  • Grouping questions into practical categories
  • Tagging questions by audience, time horizon, search intent and editorial priority
  • Separating current consumer questions from forward-looking questions

This is a qualitative question-discovery project. It is not presented as a keyword-volume ranking, scientific opinion poll or measurement of how often every question is searched.

Current edition

Version Published Questions Summary

Research limitations

The Question Bank does not claim exact Google search volume, ranking difficulty or the frequency with which each question is asked. Some questions are research-synthesized from recurring themes rather than quoted verbatim from one identifiable person.

Future research

Humanoid Home News may add new questions, refine categories, incorporate Search Console evidence after sufficient site data accumulates, and create practical buyer tools based on the research.
