Context: Computing infrastructure for Figure’s Helix models
Published: September 3, 2026 (source article)
Figure has signed a multiyear computing agreement with Nscale to support its Helix AI models and humanoid development. Nscale’s September 3 announcement describes an initial $3.5 billion compute commitment, with the first GPUs targeted for Barstow, Texas, in the second half of 2027.
The partners describe a potential expansion to as many as 100,000 NVIDIA GPUs. Nscale will also become a Figure shareholder. The compute commitment and the strategic investment are separate elements; the announcement does not identify $3.5 billion as an equity investment.
Figure founder Brett Adcock explicitly connects the agreement to the company’s ambition to bring humanoids into homes. His statement identifies data and computing capacity as constraints on that ambition.
What households can learn from the announcement
For a reader following home robots, the useful distinction is between resources for development and evidence of a finished service. A computing agreement can support future model work. A household still needs answers about which chores a robot can complete, how much help it needs and what happens when a task goes wrong.
The stated GPU schedule concerns computing infrastructure. It should not be read as a delivery date for a consumer robot. This story covers that infrastructure agreement; Figure’s separate Index program concerns gathering demonstrations to train robots.
Humanoid Home News Takeaway: More computing capacity gives Figure another ingredient for its home-robot ambitions. For Humanoid Home News readers, the next milestone is demonstrated household performance, with clear supervision requirements—not the size of the computing commitment.
