For a humanoid entering the home, manufacturing scale matters. A promising robot cannot become a household product unless the company can build it reliably, test it aggressively, and support customers after delivery.
1X says its NEO Factory in Hayward, California is live and producing NEO home robots. The company describes the facility as America’s first vertically integrated high-volume humanoid robot factory, spanning 58,000 square feet and employing more than 200 team members.
The factory is ramping toward an initial production capacity of 10,000 NEO robots per year. 1X also says automation upgrades and a new San Carlos facility are expected to help scale production toward 100,000 units annually by the end of 2027.
The home angle is direct. NEO is designed as a home humanoid robot, and 1X says current units coming off the line are being prioritized for internal team testing in homes before broader customer delivery begins in 2026.
The takeaway for Humanoid Home News readers: 1X is not just showing a home humanoid concept. It is building the factory infrastructure needed to turn NEO into a real consumer product, while still proving whether the robot is ready for daily life inside homes.
