Not every humanoid robot needs legs to be useful. One fast-growing category uses wheels, a mobile base, two arms, multi-finger grippers, and a human-facing interface to perform tasks across multiple environments.

The MERPHI/Farimani Consultant Mehrdad Farimani latest infographic highlights notable bimanual hybrid and wheel-based humanoid robots through July 2026. The group says the purpose is to educate the public and robotics industry about progress in the sector, with no paid affiliation with the companies represented.

The category matters for Humanoid Home News because some of these robots sit closer to near-term home and commercial use than many bipedal humanoids. Wheel-based systems may be less versatile on stairs or uneven terrain, but they can be more stable, practical, and task-focused for indoor environments.

The infographic groups robots across industrial and logistics, commercial and home, research and other categories, with honorable mentions included. MERPHI notes that some specifications are incomplete because companies have not published full spec sheets or because certain systems have multiple variants and customer-specific configurations.

For home robotics, the broader question is not simply whether a robot walks like a person. It is whether the robot can navigate human spaces, use two arms effectively, interact with people, and complete useful tasks safely and reliably.

The takeaway for Humanoid Home News readers: bimanual wheel-based humanoids may become an important bridge between today’s service robots and tomorrow’s home humanoids, especially where stability, manipulation, and practical indoor task support matter more than walking on two legs.
