Pollen Robotics is making Reachy Mini easier to use from a phone. Its September 30 software announcement brings mobile conversation, an app store and a route for developers to build robot experiences as web apps.
One app for everyday interaction
The company says the mobile app connects owners to their robot through a Hugging Face account. Wireless models use Bluetooth during initial Wi-Fi setup. Reachy Mini Lite still needs a connected computer running its desktop software.
Pollen describes conversation running in the mobile app, alongside downloadable experiences such as telepresence. That should not be confused with the separate local-processing configuration previously covered by Humanoid Home News.
Choose the experience and check its boundaries
A simpler interface can help a household spend more time exploring a robot and less time configuring it. It also makes app selection consequential: a camera, microphone and remote connection deserve understandable controls.
Before enabling an experience, users should check which services it relies on, what access it requests and how to stop it. A convenient app store alone does not answer those questions.
Humanoid Home News Takeaway: This update targets the everyday experience of using a desktop robot. Evaluate it as an interaction platform, with each app’s capabilities and data handling assessed separately.
